This tree provides shade, shelter and home to many creatures. Its bark is varied, yet also consistent. It is strong yet is in poor condition. The history of the township of Castlemaine tells us that this tree was used to chain prisoners up around 1850. What is now a fascinating organic structure was once a site of sadness. Sometimes man made structure hold a negative feeling. But not a tree and certainly not this tree.
