PERSIAN SILK TREE or PINK SILK TREE
Significance of tree
This beautiful tree is in our backyard courtyard and provides us with cool shade in the summer months. Its leaves close up at night and when it rains, and open up again each morning. Soft pink flowers cover it during summer and bees love the nectar as do birds and butterflies. On one occasion some passing Black cockatoos stopped to pause in its branches. Sadly they only live for about 20 years and as this one is assumed to be planted in the late ’90s it is coming to the end of its lifespan. ‘Time spent amongst trees is never wasted time’ Katrina Mayer
