Significance of tree

We walk past “Big Tree” most days, on our daily walk. Like many other people we say hello and pat the tree as we go past. It is a bushland remnant, given its size, from way before European settlement. While I was taking the rubbing quite a few people stopped to talk. Many of them commented on the “elephant foot” shape of the trunk which abuts the foot path. This tree is also very popular with the cockatoos and parrots that feed on the oval. The leaves I collected came from the cockatoos feeding in the tree a few days before. They eat the seeds. They snip the branch ends off so they can hold it in their claws to get to the seeds easily.
